I may have cut my teeth on metal and punk rock, but I’m not too good to listen to some unabashed pop music from time to time. Have I put the Refused and La Roux on the same playlist. Yes. Yes, I have.
That said, I just discovered Dragonette. They remind me of a dancier Metric. Don’t get me wrong, they do their own thing, but if you like Metric, you’ll probably like Dragonette.
The big difference is that Dragonette doesn’t mind completely changing genre to sound a bit like the Ditty Bops in the middle of an album. Give “Get Lucky” a listen to hear what I’m talking about.
